Further proof of Valrhona's commitment to protecting the environment

Through its 2024 Spring collection, Valrhona is a member of 1% for the Planet, an international collective of businesses committed to protecting the environment. As such, Valrhona donates 1% of the annual turnover of these ranges to environmental associations committed to the challenges that matter to it: sustainable cocoa farming, agroforestry, reforestation and improving the living conditions of cocoa producers.

This will allow, for example, the Cacao Forest project in Côte d'Ivoire to continue in 2024. Born out of the desire to develop agroforestry to protect resources, increase the income of cocoa producers and guarantee supplies of quality beans, this project launched in 2016 in the Dominican Republic and which ended in December 2023, is a dynamic and original partnership between French chocolate makers (Valrhona, Ecotone, Weiss, Révillon, Voisin, Relais Desserts and Carambar & Co grouped together in the TERRA ISARA endowment fund), research (CIRAD) and higher education (ISARA) institutions, the NGO Earthworm Foundation and the French Development Agency.

Other projects supported include:

• -The initiative "Let's meet under the trees" managed by the association Biovallée, which allows every year citizens of the Drôme to plant thousands of fruit trees in common areas of the Drôme valley.
• -The 1% for the Planet endowment fund which brings together more than 6000 companies and 5000 environmental associations worldwide.
• -The Valrhona Solidarity Fund which works for a fair and sustainable cocoa farming and an inclusive and responsible gastronomy.

Through this initiative, Valrhona also allows its customers to commit themselves alongside it, by offering them products aligned with its responsible purchasing process and whose sales will allow financing actions in favour of a fair and sustainable cocoa sector.
